Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding your baby leads to healthier kids for years to come. At Whitley County Health Department, we understand the importance of breastfeeding and are committed to supporting you every step of the way on your breastfeeding journey. Whether you’re a first-time parent or experienced in breastfeeding, we’re here to provide guidance, resources, and encouragement to help you succeed.

WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program

If you’re enrolled in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, you can get special help from our Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program. Our peer counselors offer free, personal help to pregnant and breastfeeding moms. From the time you join WIC, a counselor will be there to answer your questions and help with any worries you have about breastfeeding. They’ll keep supporting you during your pregnancy and after your baby is born, giving you tips and cheering you on as you breastfeed.

Lactation Consultant Services

Along with our peer support, we have lactation consultants who can give you even more help with breastfeeding. These consultants are experts in breastfeeding and can help with any problems you’re having. Whether you’re having trouble getting your baby to latch, making enough milk, or need advice about going back to work or school, our consultants can give you personalized tips and solutions. Plus, we provide breastfeeding pumping supplies to help you breastfeed even when you’re away. Please note that eligibility for pumping supplies is determined by WIC guidelines.
